Mood: determined.
Ugh, ow. I've got a headache the size of Earth Country. And quite frankly it feels like a ninja from that country dropped one of their boulders on me.

Ibiki's gone. Got away from me. But... he didn't kill me. And some of the things he said.... if they're true, then...

I've got to get to Konoha--no, Suna as soon as I can.

I hope they have a good medic there. No doubt this wound will have re-opened itself by the time I get there. But I've got to hurry.

Mission completed without any hitches. ...For the most part.

Before leaving the caravan to deliver Hokage-sama's message, I'd gone ahead and done a little investigating around the town we were in for any possible news or indication on Sound's movements. Instead, I heard rumors that seemed to match a different description.

Morino Ibiki.

I didn't tell my team (or Neji who had been given permission through Hiashi-sama and Hokage to join us) about my findings however because Konoha could likely use all the hands it can get, and they might only insist on following me if they knew. So I sent them home ahead of me half-way there and left on my own to investigate the rumors.

If I'm right about this, it looks like I may be getting very close...

Subject:Get Ready.
Time:3:01 pm.
Mood: contemplative.
While it's sometimes good news for things to be quiet (it can, after all, certainly mean that no one you know is dead) I'll admit I'm a little glad to be getting some mission news from the Administration. No definite assignment yet, but Godaime-sama did call me in earlier to discuss my team's special tracking abilities on certain terrains. I believe it's a good sign that we'll be getting another mission soon.

Team 8, be ready to move out on a moment's notice. Light packing for at least a week, as usual. I'll let you know details when they come.

Time:7:32 pm.
Mood: head buzz.
Ino left little things around my apartment after she moved out. Some leftover cooking, half a bottle of shampoo, hair ties, and a perfume of sorts. (Which smells suspiciously like a kind of aphrodisiac, but I'm not certain.) I didn't quite have the heart to put them away when she left, and I'm still left without the inclination.

I've been thinking about Asuma a lot. He's been out on a long-term mission for the past few months with no telling when he'll return. I keep wondering if he got the news. How he got it. How he's handling it. How he's feeling. If he's lonely.

I wish I was there with him, even for a little while. Just to make sure he's okay. To help him in any way I can. I'm just so... worried.

But I'm here and he's who-knows-where. Both of us where we're supposed to be. My students have been feeling the effects of this tragedy as well, and I need to be here to watch over them just as much as I'd want to be anywhere else. They're being very strong however, and I'm very proud of all of them. Kiba has me worried the most, as it seems he was the most attached of the three to Ino. I'll be constantly up thinking of what I could be doing for him--for all of them.

It's times like this when I just want to gather everyone up and take care of them. I just want to make everything better; the future brighter, so they have something to live happily for. ...Heh. I suppose this would be my maternal instincts rearing its head. It's comforting and lousy at the same time, as it makes me feel like anything I do isn't quite enough.

On another note entirely however, I'm also really getting ticked off. Ibiki's gone. After all I did to help that idiot, he goes and does something like... like.....!

Kei, I was serious about my request. If you find out anything on Ibiki, let me know as soon as you can. I'll help you drag his sorry, sick---well, you get the idea. I'll help get him back. I need to have a long "talk" with him. That idiot.

Time:6:31 pm.
Mood: bored.
I didn't realize how busy I've been until several of my responsibilities just dropped off my plate. Our student chuunin (Asuma, Kakashi, Gai's and mine) are off on a collaborative mission together. This means I don't have a team to train or do missions with, or wonder and worry about Ino, and Naruto's not around to cause trouble.

Honestly, the village has suddenly gotten so quiet...

PrivateCollapse )

Hokage OnlyCollapse )

Without any of these things to occupy my mind and time, I suddenly found myself able to accomplish many of the other reports, program outlines, and projects that I've been meaning to get done. And with those done, I also suddenly find myself with a lot of leisure. I'm honestly not quite sure what to do with it since it's been so long since I've had this kind of time.

I wonder if there are any missions I can ask for at the Administration Office...

By the way, anyone listening to Gai's rumors and taking them seriously needs to see a doctor quick. Because I'll give you a reason to if you don't.

Subject:Special Report
Time:8:02 pm.
Mood: annoyed.
After practically getting accosted by Inoshi-san on the street yesterday concerning his invitation to Ino's birthday party, I decided it was best to not encourage a repeat of the incident by not going, and went.

I didn't stay very long. Dropped off my present, talked a bit with Ino, ate some of the banquet Inoshi-san had somehow managed to fit into the room (and insisted on my partaking), and then left before the cake was even cut. It's not that I didn't want to stay, but I had to finish overseeing the festival grounds clean-up and reporting in to Hokage-sama.

The sun was setting by the time I'd finished up. It was such a nice sky today however, and the air was the perfect temperature so I decided to take the long, scenic route home. And that's the only reason I ended up running into Morino Ibiki himself.

We... talked.

Time:12:06 am.

The festival was... eventful. After the way the performances went down however (and you can just about take that literally), I'm wondering how Hokage-sama will take to how she dishes out the responsibilities next time. Well, at least things between the girls seems to be smoothed over by now.

After cleaning up the stage, I dismissed Naruto and Sasuke and found Kakashi for our date.

The date.Collapse )

Overall, I really did have a fun time. It felt good to be doing something more social than local missions.

I need to visit Ino in the hospital. ...And ask her what on earth happen to my wall. -_-

Subject:Back in the hospital.
Time:9:52 pm.
Mood: anxious.
Back in Konoha and once again, it seems I'm back in the hospital. I've never been fond of the sterile smell of the hospital. One reason I never aspired to be a medic-nin.

This isn't such a bad thing. I've needed some time to rest my body and mind anyway, so having sick leave isn't the worst way of accomplishing that. Hospitals are nice and quiet, so the few days I'll have to spend recouperating here will be an excellent chance to do so.

...That is, unless my roommate happens to be Uzumaki Naruto himself. Which it is.

Apparently being his roommate also attracts twice the attention, as plenty of people have dropped by including Hokage-sama herself. Hinata has been sweet in coming to visit me every day. It's probably good emotional training anyway; she's worked herself up to the point where she doesn't faint. Naruto certainly had an interesting gift to present her with--a T-shirt with his picture on the front. So that's what he got those for. Not just one for her, however, but a whole slew for his "fan club", which he told Hinata to distribute fairly and let him know if she needed more. That was an interesting shade of red.

Ino has also been by and given me an update on the festival, which I'm glad to hear seems to be ready to run except for the decorations. I'll be out the day of the performances, so I hope to check everything on my own before it starts. Ino, Anko, and Shizune have also been very helpful in getting me up-to-date on the local happenings of Konoha.

An engagement between Hyuuga Neji and Temari? That's something I certainly expected to be a rumor, but it's been confirmed by various reliable sources that I can't help but believe it now. I'm sorry to have missed the engagement party, so I'll have to give my reguards in person. Perhaps an opportunity will present itself at the festival.

Only a few days left until the big event. I hope everything works out...

Subject:Welcome company.
Time:12:31 am.
Mood: exhausted.
With Naruto and I teaming up against Akatsuki, our chances would be better. However, despite the renewed energy, I knew it was foolish to charge in on pure adrenaline. We'd have to go off the plan of working the two against one another with the contrast of their technique and style.

I quickly filled Naruto in on a few of the things to watch out for--especially Kisame's chakra-eating sword--and also told him that he shouldn't waste his energy chasing either one of them. He was their goal, so no matter what, eventually they would come for him. This we could also work to our advantage, by forcing them both to focus on his capture and meeting their attacks in one spot was a better way of canceling their jutsus and making them expend their chakras. We would make them come after us, working to tire them out enough for us to finish them off.

I wasn't entirely sure how long Naruto could hold or control that chakra of his, but the two things I hear most about Naruto from his teachers and friends is that he's loud and full of stamina. And if he keeps his word half as well as he boasts, he won't allow himself to go down any time soon. Strange as it is and feels, for once I may have to be worrying more about myself in this fight.

Final Round.Collapse )

That was it. It was over. We'd both been caught by Kisame's water prison. Hinata would never forgive me.

Deidara and Kisame then came to the next logical conclusion: Kill me, knock out Naruto, and carry on with their schemes. The water I was trapped in suddenly tripled in weight and pressure, it felt like a boulder was slowly rolling the air and life out of me. I could hear Naruto calling for me again, but there was nothing either of us could do except hope for a miracle.

I stubbornly refused to die easily for them, thinking about everything and everyone that would be waiting for me back home if I came back a failure. I held onto that breath of air as long as I could, flexing and fighting back against the increasing density of the liquid, but... soon... I...

I remember not being able to hold onto the breath any longer, exhaling it after an especially fierce increase of pressure, and then my throat and lungs immediately burning as I took in water. Trying to cough it out but only getting more water. The world getting darker and then...

Suddenly the jutsu was gone, and someone was hitting my back to help force out the water that I was coughing up. Hacking and coughing, I turned to see who was holding me. ...Kei...?

Remembering the situation, I scanned the area again and wondered where the giant frog came from. Shaking my head, I composed myself and looked again with a more alert mind.

Sitting in the middle of the lake was a giant frog summoning, atop of which, stood Jiraiya-sama himself. Shouting from the shoreline caught my attention and I looked over to see Naruto, looking normal again, but somehow still with enough energy to be arguing with the sannin. I was concerned about him being by himself until I saw the former Kazekage of Sand there, Godaime-sama herself. With such outstanding talent and power there such as themselves, it was little wonder the two Akatsuki took for a quick departure soon after.

Saved. We'd held out long enough to be saved. Looking at Naruto still communing with his sensei so lively made me both relieved and jealous. I was glad he was safe, but it felt a little unfair for him to still have so much energy left. As for me, with several lacerations, burns, and depleted stamina, I was perfectly fine with letting myself get some much needed rest.

I woke up a couple times to give information to Jiraiya-sama, assure Kei that I was going to be fine so long as we didn't run into any other such company, and to find out we were heading back home. I slept most of the way.

When I woke up this morning, I was back in Konoha and not surprisingly, in the hospital. My chakra levels felt fine now, but my other injuries may take a little longer to fix. I'll have to wait until later I suppose to find out how the festival planning has been going. Until then, I'll take advantage of this opportunity to just relax and--wait a minute. My roommate looks familiar...

OOC: FINISHED!!! Promised K-chan I'd wrap this up by Thursday night. ...Um, okay, so technically it's Friday morning right now and I'm no doubt going to wake up late tomorrow morning and be late for work, but...! All for the RP!

Again, I fudged on abilities; this time Deidara's. If anyone's got problems/questions/etc, just let me know and I'll be glad to do what I can!

Subject:Continued report of the Akatsuki.
Time:11:38 am.
Mood: determined.
It took me some time to catch up with Naruto. They had run fairly quickly although Deidara had apparently decided to stop and have it out with him; besides the which, I was still running on injuries and lowered chakra.

Naruto was looking pretty beat-up, but the look in his eyes was still full of spirit. This was both good and bad since he was well-enough to run away, but likely still stubborn enough not to. I landed on the other side of Deidara, who was hovering just above the ground, so as to divide his attention and surround him. Fighting was still not supposed to be the objective however, and I tried again to order Naruto to retreat. I wasn't very surprised when he refused but I was getting frustrated with his thick-headedness. There's a big difference between running away from duty and simply avoiding a bad situation that will only be made worse by provoking it.

Deidara seemed concentrated on me for a moment, which was preferable, but suddenly grinned. It's never good when these guys grin.

"I thought bait-breath must've really screwed up, yeah. But it looks like you just weren't thorough."

Before anything else could happen, the ground beneath me suddenly cracked and gave way and several enormous geysers shot out of the ground. Water flooded the crater and I used my chakra to stay atop of what was suddenly a small lake created in the middle of the desert. Through my initial shock, I managed to hear the approach of something in the water, turning to find the tip of Samehada racing towards me. I avoided its initial thrust, but not the kick Kisame followed up with as he sprang from the water. He hit the wounds on my left leg and then landed a jab across my cheek that once again sent me skimming across the ground--or in this case, lake.

"Playtime's over, kiddies."

Kisame, Round 2.Collapse )

It was then I noticed some of Deidara's explosives as they missed some of their marks and landed in the water, and the effect they had there--which was basically that they didn't. The water Kisame had created was heavy with his own chakra and seemed to decrease the damage of Deidara's bombs; not to mention the natural effect water had on dirt. If I planned this right, perhaps I could turn this partnership of theirs into our advantage after all. I'd just have to somehow let Naruto know and find the right--wait. ...That jutsu Naruto was performing... What is that?

Kisame seemed distracted by the action going on back on shore as well as Naruto began forming what looked like a ball of chakra in his right hand. I was surprised when Deidara's bird suddenly broke into numberless pieces, and I then realized it hadn't been a bird at all but a clay explosive itself. And now all of its parts where coming down on Naruto in a deadly hail. Again I called out to him, but again too late as the shoreline became a dust cloud of blasts. I was even more shocked however, when Naruto and Deidara suddenly burst forth from the cloud, the jutsu burying itself into Deidara's chest.

Was it possible? Did he really win? Was Naruto really this strong...?

My thoughts were cut short however when the jutsu ripped out through the other side, sending bits of mud flying from "Deidara". A clone.

The hole Naruto made in the clone's chest suddenly resealed around his arm, trapping him to one very large and deadly bomb. Not too far away, the real Deidara was grinning.

"Hey! Don't go killing him just yet! We need that youma alive, remember!" Kisame shouted.
"Don't worry, yeah. I'll make it just enough to keep him out. Yeah."

Putting the plan into action.Collapse )

Not-quite-running away again.Collapse )

Before Naruto could charge forward again, I put my hand on his shoulder and told him that our best chance now was to fight together. I also told him of the cancellation effect their jutsus had on one another and that we should base our strategy on that.

Naruto's chakra had recaptured the attention of our two opponents, and we both readied ourselves for what was sure to be our last stand.

Time for Round Three.

OOC: Okay, I'm aware I fudge a little with some of the jutsus. For example, Kisame's created a lake in the mange by spitting it out of his mouth, whereas here I have it coming from underground. I justify that will how we are unaware of Kisame's entry location until he's attacking Kurenai, in which case, he was in the water already. So it's possible he was underground and spat it out there for all we know.

Also, I wrote out a bit of the Naruto vs. Deidara fight and will be posting that for the involved players back on our plot thread on narutorpplot. Make sure you sign in as your player to view it.

Aurg, again, I meant to get farther than this in a post. *sghs* Another post will go up later tonight. By tomorrow morning, Kurenai and Naruto will be back in Konoha. Sorry for taking so many liberties! If someone has a big problem with it, let me know and I'll try and work things out. Thanks!

Subject:The encounter with Akatsuki.
Time:7:47 pm.
Mood: impatient.
Naruto and I were forced into combat with the Akatsuki, and I'd already sustained an injury. Explosives can be both the easier and the harder kind of pain to shrug off. The pain is fairly easy to push aside, but the hit area becomes more sensitive to wind, impact, and attacks.

A conversation must have started while I was stunned, because Naruto suddenly charged forward angrily before I could stop him. I jumped to my feet to follow, but suddenly I found myself face-to-face with an unpleasantly familiar blue face who didn't waste any time introducing me to his large friend, Samehada. There wasn't really any place for me to step back since my back was to the canyon wall, so that left the only place to go as Up.

Fighting Kisame.Collapse )

I quickly wrapped a thin, tight layer of bandages over my legs and sped off towards the direction Deidara was leading Naruto.

OOC: This was meant to be a much longer post, but this is all I have time for at the moment. The rest will follow later tonight, or tomorrow morning. Kisame isn't out of the picture yet either; not by a long shot.

Time:5:24 pm.
Mood: on guard.
The situation is currently not good.

The AkatsukiCollapse )

The plan was to escape, not fight. While I don't like to let everyone know about it, I'm not really made for battle. Working with my team has helped me improve in that area over the past few years, but previously, my skills were always used more for information gathering and spying.

I lacked a bit of experience, and Naruto lacked a lot more experience and the skill. During my last encounter with these guys, they'd managed to incaptiate Copy Ninja Kakashi. It was wise not to underestimate them, and even wiser to avoid confrontation altogether, especially considering our resources. More than anything, it was vital that they not get their hands on Naruto. So escaping it was.

Unfortunately, Naruto didn't agree with that one bit.

Not quite escaping.Collapse )

They found us sooner than I thought they would. This was going to be a lot more trouble than I hoped for.

Mood: determined.
While I was just been officially placed in charge of all the festival's entertainment, I also received a mission. The retrival of one Uzumaki Naruto, who left the village without authorization not too long ago. I've been looking to bring him back and own up to his "obligations", so it's just as well I be the one to go fetch him anyway.

It shouldn't take me long. How hard can it be to track down Konoha's loudest ninja after all?

While I'm gone however, Ino, Tenten, and Hinata: I'm leaving you three in charge of seeing to the festival's organization. Sakura can join you when she comes back--if she's feeling up to it. Ino, you screen booth entertainment (and what's being sold). Tenten, please help keep up maitenance. Hinata, I'll count on you to make sure location and schedules fit everyone's needs. They're big jobs, but I know you girls can handle it.

Until then, it looks like I'll be heading Southwest. Naruto could also use a little more training on covering his tracks...

Ino, you have full reign of my apartment while I'm gone. Just have it in decent order when I get back.

Subject:Naruto, get back here!
Time:10:54 am.
Mood: NOT happy.
Since agreeing to help the younger kunoichi prepare themselves and the stage for the upcoming festival, more and more people have been coming to me with their questions. For some reason, they must all think I'm in charge of the entire entertainment structure, which, at this point, I very may well be! Other entertainment booths have come to me asking where they can set up, complaining about the competition of other spots or space claims, time schedules, construction, etc.

I admit to taking charge on some of these issues to begin with. It just seemed simple enough at the time, and many had to do with the interference of the kunoichi evening performance. But now most appear to see me as the head supervisor of the entire thing! It's not like I can't handle the multi-tasking, but... I would have prefered to have been officially give the title. I mean, isn't there someone else who was supposed to have this job? Where are they?

Well, in any case, that was merely a set-up to help explain the seriousness of my next dilemma. The other afternoon, I was managing more of the production going on in the stage area--with several other merchants on my back trying to get my attention for something or other--when I suddenly hear something loud approaching from above. I suppose it was no surprise to see Uzumaki Naruto making the racket, running on the rooftops shouting about who knows what at the top of his lungs. Someone needs to give him extra lessons in stealth. And then, all at once... he trips. And a lesson on balance.

He doesn't just trip on the roof, mind you. Or even trips right off the roof to the edge or ground right below. No. He trips and goes flying over to the festival stage where his combined mass and velocity proceed to crash right through the floorborads. This wouldn't have been nearly as disasterous if he hadn't just so happened to also crash through one of the stage's main support beams.

Long story short, the festival stage has been reduced to a lumber yard and my patience to a short fuse. And on top of that, when I try to make him stay and fix his own mess, he bolts. Sent dozens of his Kagebushin replicas everywhere. (Times like this I wish I knew that technique myself.) I chased them all down fairly quickly, but none of them were the real thing. I find out shortly afterwords that he skipped town. Can't say I'd been expecting him to actually leave the village, or else I could have found him sooner.

So the stage is still a mess, and taking into account the time it would take to fix the stage as opposed to finding Naruto and having him fix it, at this point it's just as well for me to take care of it. Aurg! I definitely need some time off after this.

Kakashi and/or Jiraiya (whomever it concerns most): As a future note, Naruto will be disciplined by me and take responsibility for this mess.

Shizune: I really need to talk to you about some things.

Naruto: Get back here and clean this up!! And how dare you call me an "old bag"!

Subject:Maybe some time off...?
Time:7:19 pm.
Mood: busy.
Well Ino's back from her mission. I think she'll be going back to her own home soon too, although she hasn't quite said as much. Actually, she hasn't quite said much of anything since her mission; after talking with Tenten, she's become even quieter. I wonder if anything happened.

Well, it's not really any of my business, and it doesn't seem to be troubling her to the point where she's particularly edgy. She's eating just fine and her sleep parterns aren't too worse than what they were before, so...

I think Gai and I have finally resolved our dispute, although a part of him remains stubborn. I just attribute that fact to him being Gai. I now have something of an entirely different nature I wish to discuss with him...

The festival is coming up within just a couple more weeks. This is just a little more than distressing considering over half my charge in the entertainment are being sent on various missions. While no doubt any of these girls are capable of such multi-tasking, it IS just cutting things a little close. Oh well. As long as nothing happens to the stage set-up and decorations, we should still be able to pull this off easily enough.

Speaking of missions, it seems Shino and Hinata have been sent off on a mission of their own. It's not the first time some of my students have taken assignments without me, but I'll admit it still doesn't happen as often. Looking at some of the other teams however, it seems mine is one of the last still like that. Prehaps it's me who's holding on? Maybe if I left more of the mission assignments to Hokage-sama instead of requesting them... Well, in any case, Kiba and Akamaru have been the ones left behind under my tutalage. Training has commenced as usual, but I've noticed they've grown significantly in speed and stealth. I look forward to seeing them perform again on the field.

Lately I've been thinking of requesting vacation time however. I don't have any particular reason this time--no place I feel I need to be, no one I wish to visit. I just... want a little time off. Just because. It's unusual for me to feel this way; I usually try to always go the extra mile in my career. I suppose lately I've just been wondering what I'll do once it comes time to retire from that career. Where I'll be. What I'll be. And perhaps I just need some time off and space to do that. Maybe I'll mention it to Shizune next time I see her.

Well, I should go. A festival stage to prepare, paperwork to fill out, a date to find, training to do. It's still good to keep busy.

OOC: I'm back minna! I don't have my own computer yet, but I'll try to keep posted when I can borrow my roommates'. Don't have the time to post as Inoshi right now, but I promise to get him in later!

Subject:Festival prep continues.
Time:6:25 pm.
Mood: busy.
Well, things seemed to have calmed down from the dinner. I'm a little surprised there weren't as many rumors going on about it like last year especially from Tenten. I'll be grateful for small miracles however.

I recieved a message at administration from the Inuzukas. Kiba will be back in three days. It's been a bit of a longer training trip than I had thought, but I'm looking forward to seeing what he's learned. According to the postcard I got from him last week, there's a "super-awesome jutsu" involved. I'm sure Shino will be thrilled to have his teammate back for sparring.

Most of my time recently has been spent helping to prepare for the festival entertainment, which will be taking place in a few weeks. The girls are all doing wonderful jobs, and have found various people willing to help them. Sakura will be taking some time off for a mission I hear, but since we still have plenty of time before the actual fesitval, there shouldn't be any problem.

But something that may be a problem is the fact that it seems Ino "spilled the beans" to Anko about who it was that hid away all her dango... Fortunately however, Anko can't stay much on track of anything for TOO long. Unfortunately, Anko can't stay much on track of anything for TOO long and starts making crazy assumptions and ramblings on my personal affairs. Things like that tend to lead to... things I should know better than to get myself into in the first place.

I still can't believe I made that bet. -_-

Girls performing in the festival (minus Sakura), we're going to hold another rehersal tomorrow at 2. Make sure your teachers know. And Tenten, try to dissuade Lee from "helping" next time. The curtains and sound system are still in repair.
